Centuries ago when the races of humans, elves, dwarves, dragonborn, gnomes, aasimar, and others once lived in relative peace with one another, a growing darkness threatened to plunge everything into chaos. Lorath, the Eternal Dread, a powerful lich, emerged from the depths of a forgotten tomb. With his magic and insatiable thirst for power, he amassed an army of undead like none before – skeletons, zombies, vampires, wights, and ghosts. Under the banner of Eternal Twilight, he set forth to conquer the land and the people who inhabited it with the goal of spiting the gods and corrupting their creation.

Though Lorath was seemingly defeated, no trace of his body was recovered, nor was his phylactery destroyed. As the years went by, Lorath faded into myth and the living forgot about the very real war between the living and the dead. Only recently have the undead been seen actively leaving their borders, confusing and worrying learned scholars who see the coming signs of Lorath's return.

Whether you want to be a blacksmith or tavern owner just trying to get by, a knight in service to their kingdom, or an adventurer out to strike it rich and die in a legendary quest, nearly all reasonable characters are welcome here. We're a new server and still figuring things out, but we welcome everyone.
