Connection to Celestia/Unknown God: Paimon’s clothes bear the same, often upside-down, Triquetra symbol found on high-level Abyss objects and in the Celestia loading screen. Her cape features a starry, space-like design that resembles the effects used by the Unknown God (Asmoday) in the game's opening scene.
The "Shade of Space" Theory: A very popular theory suggests Paimon is a weakened or amnesiac version of the "Unknown God" or one of the Four Shades that serve the Heavenly Principles. This suggests she is the "Ruler of Space" who, after the Cataclysm 500 years ago, was fragmented and lost her memory, turning into the child-like Paimon.
The "God of Time" Theory: Another theory posits she is related to Istaroth, the God of Time. This is supported by her ability to seemingly "pause" time (using the menu) and the fact that she doesn't age, while no one in Teyvat seems to remember her.
