A fully customisable scheduling bot than can ping reminders for events, games, streams etc.

Bosley is a multi-functional scheduling bot that enables users to set and share reminders for events, games, streams etc. Bosley can send notifications to specific channels and roles, users can opt-in (or out) of receiving notifications or Admins can enforce notifications.

Quick setup
Follow these simple steps to set the bot up!

  • Invite the bot to your server.
  • Run the command !setup to initiate the interactive setup. You will be asked for:
  • A role that can create events in your server (recommended), or type in “everyone” if you want everyone to be event creators.
  • A channel for the bot to send scheduled event messages.
  • If you don’t want to specify a role that gets notification every time an event message is created, go ahead and type “none” to complete the setup.
  • Done! You can run command !info to check if the bot is properly configured in your server.

Advanced setup
You are good to go after setting a role for event creator, and a channel for Boz to post event messages to. If you want users to subscribe for event creations, please follow the steps below, given that you have completed Step 1 and Step 2:

  • Run the command !setup again.
  • Enter next to skip Step 1 and Step 2.
  • Step 3: Enter the role that gets the notification when a new event is created. If you receive an error in this step, make sure the bot’s role is above the role you entered.
  • Step 4: Copy a message ID (from the message you want to make it as a place for new event subscription) and give it to complete step 4. You will need Discord’s Developer Mode enabled in order to get the message ID. How it works: It’s basically a react-for-role function: the user adds reaction to the message and gets the role (specified in Step 3), or removes the reaction to remove the role. When an event is created, the bot will ping that role so anyone with it receives the notification.

Create scheduled events
Once the bot is set up you can proceed to create scheduled events

  • Run command !create to start the interactive creation process!
  • The bot will ask you these information:
  • A title for the event.
  • Details for it.
  • A number of users to “say yes” (through reactions). Tell your server friends to react if they’re interested and want the event to happen! --- You can also put down 0 yes's required. This allows an admin to enforce a notification being sent to any role ---
  • Date and time when it happens. Enter as you like, the bot will try to figure out the date and time for you.
  • You will receive a notification if the event is successfully created.

You can also use the !qcreate command to schedule an event (bypass the interactive event creator)

flags
-t, -title : Required : Name or Title of your event
-s, -start : Required : Time when your event starts
-d, -details : Optional : Details of your event
-r, -repeat : Optional : Time interval to repeat your event
-f, -force : Optional : Roles to force notification on
-c, -channel : Optional : Channel to post the event message

The bot does not respond to !setup so it is, as of now, completely useless

I was using Bosley in my server for classmates to provide the links for our online classes when they started, and it totally deserves 5 stars. Boz guided me through the setup and event creation processes, and allowed me to customise things like timing, pinging a specific role when the event started, and adding a description, all of which are usually locked behind a paywall in other bots. But rece...

So how does one make an event repeat on the 1st of every month? How does one edit an already made event without deleting and recreating it?

I run/staff online conventions through discord a lot and was put in charge of getting a bot to announce all the events. A lot of the bots i was using just weren't working. There's only an hour before opening ceremonies and sadly i couldn't use this one. I think this bot has TONS of potential though, the announcement itself is amazing! And it's very easy to set up, the bot takes you through step by...

tl;dr = Works as expected, Easy setup, Does what other bots seem to be price gauging for. I've messed around with the bot. The setup is pretty quick and easy to understand, because of the wizard-like, question-and-respond type of configuration. I'm a little confused by the display of Y/N reactions, and even the implementation, but perhaps I'm looking at it from a different point of view. As som...
