Anonymous history: Anonymous began in the early 2000s on internet forums like 4chan, where users posted without names — hence “anonymous.” At first, it was more of an internet culture group known for pranks and trolling.

By 2008, Anonymous became a hacktivist movement, launching Project Chanology, a major protest and cyberattack campaign against the Church of Scientology. That’s when they started wearing the Guy Fawkes masks (inspired by V for Vendetta).

In the 2010s, they carried out cyber operations (called “ops”) supporting free speech, privacy, and justice. Some major actions included:

Operation Payback (2010): Attacks on companies that opposed WikiLeaks.

Ops in the Arab Spring (2011): Helping activists bypass censorship.

Operations against ISIS, police brutality, and government surveillance in later years.

Anonymous isn’t an organized group — it’s a decentralized collective of individuals who share the same ideals of freedom, anti-corruption, and digital rights.

They’ve faded in and out of activity but still resurface during major global events, especially involving human rights or government abuses.

What is this community?

In the education industry, we are starting to gather teachers that specialize in OSINT, CyberSecurity (Both Red and Blue), General Hacking, programming languages, and…
