Many of the people of Tokyo and Japan were also not ready to accept the merging of prey and predator. Countless ghouls were obstructed from shelter and assimilation either from outside sources or by their own means. They were also chronically ill as a result of the Dragon’s toxins and still treated as rabid animals within society. Neither ghoul nor human were trustful of Kaneki Ken and his allies, seeing as him solely responsible for the great massacre that had taken place. In spite of donations and resources poured into rebuilding its infrastructure, funded by Tsukiyama Shuu, and policing of more “violent” ghouls, it was not enough to prevent each ward from falling into turf wars between terroristic groups and factions of either side. The sole survivor of the Washuu clan, Matsuri Washuu, swiftly took advantage of the strenuous pressure upon the United Front and the Tokyo Security Committee’s growing opposition against them. Blindsiding an already fragile alliance, Matsuri orchestrated an attack against the United Front and its orphanages. This forced them to go into hiding, and once more ghouls and humanity are in bad blood with each other. It is now present day Tokyo. ╰┈➤ Kaneki Ken’s whereabouts are currently unknown, and the United Front and TSC have since been disbanded. In their absence, new factions have emerged and the fight to be at the top of the food chain is neverending.
