Our story takes place in Vesuvia, a city-state on Zephyr Bay. In this universe, magical arts are possible along with many other things. Electronics/machinery do not exist, everything is done in an old-fashioned way or with magic.

For several years prior to our current time, a sickness had taken over the entirety of Vesuvia. This sickness was called the "Red Plague”. Those who caught the plague were shipped off to The Lazaret, an island nearby Vesuvia, so the sickness wouldn’t spread- though some people were taken in the by plague doctors to experiment for a cure. People who suffered from the Red Plague would die within days and the most noticeable symptom is the sclera of your eyes turning a bright red, though other symptoms include loss of appetite and a cough. When the Count passed away during a fire, the Red Plague vanished along with him. A cure to the plague has been found.

It’s been ten years since the Count died and the plague has vanished, but people have reported seeing his ghost around the castle and people are beginning to get the plague again. Certain townsfolk are being chosen by the rulers of Vesuvia to help investigate the recent flare-up and suspicions.
