Chell is free and is returning to a recovering civilization far beyond her comprehension.

Most of the Combine's presence on Earth has been significantly reduced after a long, arduous fight for freedom by the forces of the Resistance... Unfortunately, however, a new issue has arisen. The devastating impact the Combine left on Earth is absolutely tremendous... Entire continents overrun with hostile alien life, drained of the rich culture and beauty that one inhibited them; resources are scarce, and abundance is a word used only to describe the water and air pollution left behind...

In the midst of the hellscape of the world above, however, the Aperture Science Enrichment Center continues to flourish. Under the rule of GLaDOS, the facility aims to grow into a scientific wonderland, testing upon thousands of newly discovered, qualified test subjects. For science... Unbeknownst to Aperture, however, they stand in conflict with a world ruined. Enter the White Mesa Initiative, an organization desperately assembled by various members of the Resistance, newly led by Resistance savior Gordon Freeman, to unite the chaotic and split humanity under one beacon of hope. Consisting of campuses spread all across the world, three divisions make up the Initiative, with their respective goals being to clean Earth, help feed and provide for struggling citizens across the world, and eliminate the hostile alien life that plagues ecosystems and humanity worldwide while containing foreign, dangerous technology left behind.

If there is one lesson humanity learned from the hells of the Combine's rule, it's that portals are dangerous. Very, very dangerous... And with Chell now roaming the world above, the White Mesa Initiative, scavengers, and others have taken interest in locating the old Enrichment Center. Some with noble interests... Others with more greedy motives.

One thing is for certain, however...

The world is free, and the fate of this story is in the hands of all involved.
