Anno Domini 1180, in the aftermath of the crusade launched by His Holiness Pope Urban II in 1096, the unexpected expedition was a great success for the Christians who had gone away to redeem themselves by taking back the Holy Land for Christendom. Decades have passed since the establishment of the Outremer kingdoms, and the fertile, sacred land is at a point of conflict between two powerful groups, the Muslim Saracens and the Christian Franks. Both groups struggle to achieve dominance and influence in the region and, most importantly, possession of the holy city of Jerusalem. Shall the Muslim Saracens, under Sultan Salah ad-Din, prevail in their jihad against the Christian Franks, led by King Baldwin IV?
