Familiar Soulmate AU

Soulmate/Familiar Info Everyone has a familiar since birth. This familiar will eventually lead the person to their soulmate. Familiars have different ways of going about this. Some of them just show particular interest in the soulmate or the soulmate's familiar, some bring their human to their soulmate, some leave their human and bring their soulmate to them, etc.

♡ Though I did mention that a familiar may leave their human to bring their soulmate to them, this does not mean that they would travel great distances. A familiar knows who the correct soulmate is on sight, not beforehand.

♡ Aromantics are recognized in the soulmate process. Someone who is aromantic will still be matched with a soulmate, or possibly even multiple soulmates, but more in a platonic sense.

♡ Platonic soulmates are uncommon, but very normal, even for someone who isn't aromantic. Someone may very well have both a platonic soulmate and a romantic soulmate.

♡ Familiars are somewhat effected by their human's physical state, but they cannot die unless their human does.

♡ Familiars typically stay with their human throughout their entire day. The only time a familiar would leave their human's side other than to chase after their soulmate would be in a dangerous situation to fetch help.

♡ A person's familiar may change shape in special circumstances. For example, if a person lost their sight, their previously small-enough-to-fit-in-pocket familiar may morph into a seeing-eye dog or something along those lines.

♡ Familiars don't have to be regular animals, in fact, they're usually made up fantasy creatures. Every familiar is unique, though they can resemble creatures that exist on their own.

♡ Though soulmates do exist, it's acceptable practice to still date before meeting a soulmate.

♡ Someone may have multiple soulmates throughout their lifetime or simultaneously. Widowed soulmates and polyamorous soulmates are accommodated for.

♡ Yes, you can feed your familiar snacks.

World-Building Info The main story and most of the chats/locations take place in a made up city, Mortanu City, though characters could very well be from all around the world.

♡ Mortanu City is a popular tourist location, known for being the center of familiar research and health. It has wellness and information centers specifically for humans and their familiars.

♡ There is a less populated area on the outskirts of Mortanu City for those who want to get away from the busy nature of the city, where a beachfront resides.
