NetProbe

NetProbe performs network diagnostics inside Discord.

You run a command. You receive results in an embed. No terminal access required.

Your server gains direct network testing for hosts, ports, and DNS records.

Purpose

Network issues often begin with simple checks.

Port reachability. DNS resolution. Latency checks.

These tasks often require command line tools or external websites.

NetProbe places these diagnostics inside Discord chat.

You run a command. You view results in seconds.

Core Commands

• /pinghost measure TCP connection latency to a host and port • /portcheck test whether a TCP port accepts connections • /dns resolve a hostname into IP addresses • /rdns perform reverse DNS lookup on an IP address

Example:

You run /pinghost host:example.com port:443

Result:

Host: example.com Port: 443 Latency: 31 ms Status: reachable

Queue Protection

Network diagnostics require control to prevent abuse.

NetProbe uses a global processing queue.

Each request enters the queue. Workers process tasks in order.

Users receive:

• queue position • estimated wait time • live countdown while waiting

This structure prevents scan spam and protects the host system.

Rate Limits

Each user receives a cooldown.

Example rule:

• one request every five seconds

This protects both the bot infrastructure and remote servers.

Embed Based Results

All results return through embeds.

DNS commands list resolved IP addresses. Reverse DNS commands return hostnames. Connection tests show latency and connection state.

Design Principles
