Roleplay Nations -- Last big announcement

Hey everyone.

As most of you have noticed, I haven't been actively developing new features for a while now. I keep repeating the same things in these announcements... anyways...

The player base has shrunk, the Discord nation-RP genre has largely moved on, and I haven't given this project the attention it deserves. That's on me.

The main Roleplay Nations bot will be shutting down in January 2027. That's when my VPS subscription expires, and I just won't be renewing it after that.

After that, I'm working on something new -- a proper nation simulator, built from scratch, much more sophisticated than what a Discord bot can offer. I'm developing it with a friend from college. It won't be a Discord bot. More details on that when the time comes.

Until January 2027, the bot will stay online and playable (more half-playable but whatever).

The bot is now open source.

I've published the full source code on GitHub. If anyone wants to run their own version of Roleplay Nations, fork it, modify it, or learn from it (or learn what not to do), it's all there. Fair warning: the code quality is rough. This was one of my first big projects and it shows. More details about the project are in the read me file on that repo.
