RadioBot

Unfortunately, it's time to shutdown Radiobot for an undefined amount of time. It's been a year now since Radiobot was published and I've learnt a lot from this experience. It started as a very small project, and a very imperfect one. I had no prior experience developing Discord bots aiming to the public, and that was obvious with beginner errors I had, the way the bot was coded, and plenty of things I could take a whole day writing.

The reason I am shutting down Radiobot is because I've ran out of motivation. I don't find this project as exciting as I did a year ago. Furthermore, I would like not to stick to Discord bot development, but keep exploring new fields and topics on programming.

And I can tell you, this is probably the worst decision I could take with Radiobot. Discord is implementing lots of features for bots. In a short period of time, they have added new interactions (Buttons, Selectors...), they are going to add a public Discovery for bots (i guess it will be very similar to the discovery for servers), etc. However, I'm exhausted. It was a continuous fight trying to fit a complex idea into a bot, constrained by Discord, Google (youtube) and a long list of limitations.

So, as this is not a blog post or something like that, I will not make this too long. I don't know if in the future Radiobot will be online again, probably yes. When I have the motivation and time again I see no reason not to turn the bot again, but time will decide.

So, that's all. Thanks for this year of support to Radiobot. It really means a lot for me, all the people that has voted on Top.gg or talked in this Discord server. I will always remember this as the very first "professional" bot I tried to build.

Everything related to Radiobot will be closed. This discord, tho, will be kept open.
