The year is 200X, and the successful entrepreneur and business tycoon, the founder and lead distributer of Duel Monster Cards around the world, Mr. Dianyun Sheng, has made an exciting announcement. Usually hidden behind closed doors, he came out of his reserve to state that he has received the most unfortunate of news...

A terminal illness of dubious origin, and he has been informed that he only has a little over 3 years left to live. Thus, he has decided to launch his final project; to scout out the best up and coming young Duel Monsters fanatics around the globe, and to invite them to the newly created Duel Education Institute, the Mirai Academy, on what used to be his own private island, in order to receive the highest of education and face a set of tests to determine who shall be Mr. Sheng's successor as the lead of operations in the world of Dueling.

If you are reading this, you just might be one of the selected young Dueling talents, invited on Sheng's Island, so take the steamboat to the Academy as a part of the Mirai Generation, and aim for the sky as the next King or Queen of Duel Monsters!
