The city of Veiled had always been a place of industry, its streets alive with the hum of progress. Yet beneath the cobblestones and gaslight, whispers stirred, rumors of red eyes in the dark, of people vanishing without a trace, of attacks that left no blood behind. Most citizens dismissed these tales as nonsense, but others felt the chill of truth in them.

Far from the city, in the deep woods, the Hollowfang lived in silence. For centuries they had kept to themselves, bound to the rhythm of nature and the moon. But the war trespassed upon their sacred grounds. Vampires spilled blood on their soil, and the Hollowfang’s fury awoke. To them, all fanged ones became enemies, Gilded or Fera, it mattered not. Even Hunters who crossed their borders were marked. Some of their kind infiltrated the Hunters, gathering secrets, while others vowed to kill any who trespassed. Their oath was simple: no fanged one would leave their woods alive, and humans who strayed too far would be claimed, turned, and bound to the pack.

Now, Veiled stands in uneasy silence. The Pact holds, but only barely. Hunters sharpen their blades, sensing the return of howls in the night. Gilded move quietly, fearing the resurgence of the Fera. Hollowfang prowl the woods, their hatred undimmed. Citizens remain blind, while Watchers whisper warnings in journals no one reads.

The city breathes on the edge of another storm, its factions circling in shadow, each preparing for the inevitable fracture. The war may have ended, but the night has not forgotten.
