it's in the water

In a single afternoon, it rained. It rained for 3 hours. Reports came in from all over the world, and it was soon made obvious that there wasn’t a place on earth that was exempt from the downpour. Even places that were known for drought received unrelenting rain, not that they weren’t grateful for it at the time. Not long after, the deaths started pouring in, reports of sudden sickness and death flaring up like wildfire. Worldwide panic soon ensued, and within 48 hours, half of the human race had perished.

It’s been 2 years. Every lake, ocean, and puddle in the world has been infected by a flesh and blood eating bacteria. Water is scarce, and so are people. Less than 3/4th of the population remains, the majority slowly killed by either the contaminated water or dehydration. Both are very common these days. Power Lines are down, and there’s no working electricity. It’s not uncommon you’ll run into a person or two by taking a stroll down one of the many lovely abandoned streets, but if you’re lucky, you won’t be mugged and killed. Many people have turned to living a life of crime, robbing anyone who seems to have a bag on them, in hopes they have perhaps even half a bottle of clean, non contaminated water.

Most of the population has died. They found out the hard way, some by drinking water from their own kitchen sink, other’s bathing in lakes or being out in the rain at just the wrong time. But not you! Sneaky little bastard, you somehow lived! And you have one objective. Survive.
