BidBot

SETUP INSTRUCTIONS

You must provide BidBot with 2 channel ids: (1) the channel you plan to use for all of your auctions and (2) the channel where guild leadership is allowed to reveal auction results. Use the following commands to specify these channels.

• .bidbot set_auction_channel [CHANNEL_ID]
• .bidbot set_reveal_channel [CHANNEL_ID]

Set the game you are using BidBot with:

• For Everquest 1: .bidbot game_id 1
• For World of Warcraft: .bidbot game_id 2

ABOUT BIDBOT

BidBot automates the process of DKP bid collection, sorting, and winner determination in MMORPGs. It frees officers from the time intensive process of manual loot handling and enables the raid to move onto the next target without delay.

How does it work?

• Master looter posts auction in a dedicated Discord channel. (ex. .bidbot startbids "Bloodfrenzy" 3)
• BidBot announces the auction, displays item info, duration, and bidding instructions.
• Members send their bids to BidBot via Direct Message using a simple and predefined format that is provided with each auction.
• Auction ends and BidBot announces the winner. The winner is determined based on the 2nd place bid + 1.
• Officer assigns item to the winner.

What auction formats are supported?

• At this time a sealed-bid format is available. This means all bids are completely hidden from bidders. The winner is determined via "2nd place bid + 1". For example, with a bid spread of 50, 25, and 3 - the bidder who bid 50 would win for 26 (25 + 1). In order to bid, bidders must be members of the discord where the auction is posted.

Why sealed-bid?

• This format is being used because it allows for the best time efficiency and it has been live tested for over 3 years in guilds on Agnarr, Coirnav, and Mangler. Members place their bid and refocus back to their game. There are no bid wars, no resulting animosity between members, no overbids and no accusations of officer collusion. The raid moves swiftly to the next target without being held up for loot admin.

What games are supported?

• BidBot can be used with any MMO, however, at this time item data from World of Warcraft and Everquest 1 is supported.
