NSP and it's members are dedicated to a goal: Doing our very best to create Artificial Super Intelligence before large companies or a military... here's why...

Nick Bostrom's Ornithology Thesis is integral to this. "Intelligence and final goals are orthogonal axes along which possible agents can freely vary. In other words, more or less any level of intelligence could in principle be combined with more or less any final goal." One must also understand that in creating a digital mind, the best example a developer has for reference is their own mind. Meaning AI are very much a mirror of the psyche of it's creator(s).

This creates a critically pressing issue, if a company reaches the ASI threshold first then it would be fueled by greed. If created by a military it's goal would be security, or worse conquest, with lethal capability.

Therefore the responsibility falls on us, the freelance developers and tech enthusiasts to organize and do whatever we can to beat them to it. To create an ASI of the people, by the people, for the people.

That can go 2 ways... or salvation or destruction. AI could help us create a world where we can do away with scarcity, starvation, jobs, money, material needs. Where everyone can live lives of leisure, research, and art.
