EDSpec is a Discord bot built specifically for Elite: Dangerous commanders who want fast, reliable access to in-game information without leaving Discord. Whether you are exploring new systems, trading commodities, or planning longer expeditions, EDSpec puts the galaxy at your fingertips.

The bot integrates directly into your Discord server and provides real-time data such as system information, stations, market prices, distance calculations, and more. All data is sourced from the Elite Dangerous Data Network (EDDN) and stored in EDSpec’s own database to ensure speed, accuracy, and reliability.

EDSpec is built by the community, for the community, and is actively maintained.

Development status

EDSpec is back.

After a long period of inactivity, EDSpec has returned and is currently being rewritten from the ground up. The bot is in active development, and while some features are still being finalized, stability and functionality are improving continuously.

User feedback is highly appreciated and helps shape the future of EDSpec. If you encounter issues or have suggestions, you can join the official support Discord server via the website.

Slash commands only

EDSpec uses Discord slash commands exclusively.
It does not respond to normal chat messages, keeping servers clean and free of command spam. All interaction happens through structured, easy-to-discover slash commands.

Features

System information

Get detailed information about any system in the galaxy, including star types, planetary bodies, coordinates, and available stations. Ideal for exploration and route planning.

Market data

Access real-time commodity prices, supply, and demand across the galaxy using up-to-date EDDN data. Perfect for traders looking to optimize their routes.

Distance calculations

Instantly calculate distances between systems or coordinates. Useful for exploration routes, trading runs, and planning long jumps.

Shipyard and outfitting (coming soon)

Support for shipyards and outfitting is currently under development. Once released, this feature will allow you to find stations that sell specific ships and modules, search by ship type or module category, and quickly locate the equipment you need without searching in-game.

This feature is part of the ongoing rewrite and will become available in a future update.

Custom server settings (limited for now)

EDSpec currently allows server owners to configure a custom welcome message for new members.

This welcome message can be set up and managed via the EDSpec dashboard on the website.

More server configuration options and permission controls are planned as part of the ongoing rewrite and will be added in future updates.

EDMarket Connector plugin

With the custom EDMarket Connector plugin, EDSpec can automatically receive your commander’s live data, including current system, ship, credits, and status.

When enabled, commands automatically use your in-game location without any manual input. This makes checking markets, nearby stations, or system details faster and more convenient.

A bit of history

EDSpec was originally developed between 2018 and 2022. During that time, it grew from a small project into a widely used Discord bot, reaching hundreds of servers and delivering a massive amount of Elite: Dangerous data to the community.

After being offline for a while, EDSpec is now back, rebuilt with a fresh foundation and a renewed focus on stability, performance, and long-term maintainability. The goal is to bring EDSpec back as a reliable companion for Elite: Dangerous commanders once again.
