This market is a 0 sum game, for every $1 won their is $1 lost by someone else. The market is designed to take money from 'dumb money' (retail technical analysis traders) to smart money "whales". 90% of people who participate in this market will be losers, it takes money from the poor and gives it to the rich. In order to be successful in trading you must have an edge, an edge being an advantage over other people in the market. If you do not have an edge, over sustained period of time you will consistently lose money in this market.

TECHNICAL ANALYSIS IS NOT AN EDGE. As much as people love to show their technical analysis 'works' the fact is it's a probability, the official statistic is: 78% of retail CFD traders lose money and they all trade with 'technical analysis', if you think the markets price is determined by some random lines on a chart, this market will destroy you. Remember what I said about the market being a 0 sum game and needing an edge? Look around you, everyone knows 'technical analysis' if all you need to be successful in trading is some good technical analysis, then why isn't everyone already rich? An edge isn't something that everyone shares, if everyone shares the same 'edge' then that's not longer an edge. Here's an analogy to make it easier to understand; If you're at a poker table and you have an edge of somehow being able to know what cards your opponent has, that's your edge, you now have an advantage over everyone else at that table, you will find yourself consistently on the winning side of the table, but now if everyone at the table somehow gains your 'edge' and they can also see what cards everyone else has, now all of a sudden you no longer have an edge, you will no longer find yourself consistently winning.

The same applies in markets, if everyone around you is doing technical analysis, how the hell is that an edge? If you find yourself being around people who constantly cry about 'manipulation' and 'whales are dumping' whenever the price goes down then the reality is you are a loser in the market surrounded by people with a lack of understanding of how this market works.
