𝕿he year is 260 AC. The realm stands to see the end of the Targaryen name. King Aemon I is thought soon to fade into the seven heavens. He, along with his brother Aegon, the captain of the Kingsguard, are aged, unwed and without children. The presumed heirs are the children by his two sisters: Daella who married into house Velaryon, and Rhae who married into house Celtigar. At the advice of the small council, these Velaryon and Celtigar heirs and heiresses have been summoned to court so that the old king might choose a successor most suited to the crown. Conspiracies and schemes are already rampant as factions begin to form around each candidate, as houses from Sunspear to Winterfell begin to make their choices. To welcome the heirs, a masked ball is planned within the walls of the Red Keep. Every noble, from the most paramount of lords, to their lowest vassals, have been honored with an invite. Despite this show of merriment, trouble brews abroad. Outlaws, exiles, pirates and sellswords gather under the cause of the Blackfyre pretender in the disputed lands of Essos.
