A Modern, Urban take on the Batman Mythos told through Roleplay
Things are heating up in Gotham. Following the lengthy absence of several heroes on your typical saving-the-world-type mission, crime syndicates have risen to seize power in the absence of the Bat. Rather than foolishly attempting to plunge Gotham into mayhem and risk swift defeat at his hand, the three major crime groups have woven themselves intricately into the city's systems of power. With Black Mask taking over the industrial Downtown areas, Carmine Falcone firmly placing himself in control of the wealthy Uptown area, and The Penguin fitting himself neatly in between in Midtown, these three have gained immense influence without vigilantes around to beat them back. [ PARAGRAPH BREAK HERE NORMALLY ] That is not to say that organized crime is the sole threat to Gotham, of course. The city is never without its band of costumed kooks and clowns. While none of the three crime syndicates have taken credit for it, someone recently orchestrated yet another large-scale breakout at Arkham, liberating the vast majority of Gotham's criminal underworld and letting them loose to keep the heroes busy. [ PARAGRAPH BREAK HERE NORMALLY ] Gotham is a city defined by its nightlife. From the wealthy elite and business folk to the criminals and mercenaries, the hands of power shift night by night. What can't be seen can't be fought, nor can you run away along a path cloaked in darkness. Only in the dawn can safety be found, can the path ahead finally be clear.
