What is MessageMod?

MessageMod is a message deletion tool for moderators that logs everything. Right-click any message, select Delete Message, and it's gone — with a full audit trail preserved in a private channel.

No slash commands to memorize, no typing message IDs. Just right-click and delete.

How It Works

1. Right-click any message in your server
2. Select Apps > Delete Message
3. The message is deleted and a detailed log is posted to your audit channel

That's it. The entire deleted message — text, embeds, and attachments — is preserved in the audit log so nothing is lost.

Audit Logging

Every deletion is logged to a private channel with:

• Full message content — The complete text of the deleted message
• Attachments — Images and files are re-uploaded to the audit log (up to 8MB each)
• Embed count — Number of embeds the message contained
• Who deleted it — The moderator who performed the deletion
• Original author — Who wrote the message
• Channel — Where the message was deleted from
• Timestamp — When the message was originally posted

Denied attempts are also logged — protected user attempts, age limit blocks, and audit log protection attempts all appear in the audit channel so admins have full visibility.

Access Control

MessageMod uses Discord's built-in integration settings for permissions — no bot-specific allow/deny commands to manage.

Setup

1. Run /message-deletion setup to set your audit log channel
2. Go to Server Settings > Integrations > MessageMod
3. Assign which roles or members can use the Delete Message command
4. Optionally restrict the command to specific channels

This is the same system Discord uses for all bot commands. Your moderators and admins already know how it works.

Features

Protected Users

Prevent specific users' messages from being deleted:

• /message-deletion protect — Shield a user's messages from deletion
• /message-deletion unprotect — Remove the protection

Useful for protecting bot messages, server announcements, or specific staff members.

Message Age Limit

Control how far back moderators can delete:

• /message-deletion age-limit — Set a maximum message age (in hours)

Set it to 24 hours so moderators can only delete recent messages, or leave it unlimited.

Audit Log Protection

The bot's own audit log messages cannot be deleted through the Delete Message command, ensuring your deletion records are tamper-proof.

Getting Started

1. Invite MessageMod to your server
2. Run /message-deletion setup audit-log-channel: #mod-logs
3. Configure access in Server Settings > Integrations > MessageMod
4. Right-click a message and select Delete Message
