Important Update Regarding the Future of the State of Survival SignUp Bot

Dear Community,

As we start 2026, I unfortunately have to share some difficult news with you. After careful consideration – a decision I've been wrestling with for a very long time – I've decided to step away from maintaining and further developing the bot.

Many of you have likely noticed that there are bugs and issues that have existed for years without being fixed. This isn't due to lack of care, but stems from my mental health struggles. The pressure of keeping up with the project has become overwhelming, leading to burnout. As a result, my motivation has faded, and I've only been able to handle maintenance half-heartedly or not at all.

I don't want the bot to simply die – it's running on around 1600 servers and means a lot to many of you. That's why I'm looking for someone interested in taking over the project, continuing its development, and properly maintaining it.

Until a suitable successor is found, the bot will continue to run in its current state. I will keep the hosting active and perform minimal critical maintenance (e.g., restarts if it crashes), but no new features or bug fixes will be implemented during this transition period.

What I’m offering:

• Full source code and a complete database export.
• Transfer of the Discord Application ownership (Bot Token).
• Transfer of ownership of this support server.
• The domain sosbunker-signup.com (specifically registered for this project) can also be transferred to the new maintainer.
• After transfer, you’ll be fully responsible for hosting, running, and all future operations.

Requirements for the new maintainer:

• Strong experience with relational databases (especially MariaDB / MySQL)
• Proficient in Java and the JDA framework for Discord bots
• Longtime experience with the Game State of Survival

I’m truly sorry to start the year with this news. This was an incredibly difficult decision, and I’ve been working on it for months. If no suitable successor is found by December 31, 2026, I will have to shut down the bot permanently and delete all data irreversibly, in full compliance with GDPR and the German DSGVO (since the bot is operated from Germany).

Important legal note: This handover is explicitly free of charge and does not constitute a sale or any form of commercial transaction. The transfer of the source code, database, Discord application, support server, and domain is a voluntary and non-monetary gift to ensure the project's continuation. No payment or compensation of any kind is involved or expected.
