The year is 101 AC, and after forty years of peace and plenty, the Seven Kingdoms are on the brink of crisis. With the death of Baelon Targaryen, the Prince of Dragonstone, the succession is again muddled, and so a Great Council will be called at Harrenhal, to determine once and for all who it is that lords of the realm favor...
But it is not to be. Unbeknownst to the king or his council - unbeknownst even to the sorcerer Grand Maester Landevale - King Jaehaerys will not live to name his heir. Though he does not know it, Harrenhal and its curse shall be his doom. And with the loss of the wisest king Westeros has ever seen, the Seven Kingdoms shall fall into madness. In the end, who shall reign supreme? Could it be the fiery Princess Rhaenys, or the grim and dutiful Jaehaerys the Lesser? Could it be the generous and amiable Viserys, or even the king's lesser children, the vain Viserra or the warrior Gaemon?
